Kayaking...Floating Classroom (1 session)
Explore the area around Neville Preserve between Siesta Key and Casey Key by kayak. Paddle the kayaks through the shallow waters, examine and identify various types of mangroves and learn their importance. Encounter birds, fish, and the occasional porpoise and manatee. Learn about the old Mote Marine shark tank (now empty), walk on the beach at the old Midnight Pass and learn about the constantly changing shore line. Through handouts and old aerial photos, gain better understanding of the beautiful Sarasota area where land meets water. Class departs from Turtle Beach Lagoon on Siesta Key. Please note: Participants need to be able to swim, and to be able to sit in a kayak for approximately three hours, feel comfortable on the water, and be able to paddle. FEE FOR THIS CLASS IS NONREFUNDABLE.
Kayak rentals are now $25 per person, $40 for a double kayak ($42.80 w/tax) and includes delivery.

Discover Scuba (1 session)
If you've always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now's the time to find out. There is a whole new world for you to discover underwater and here is a convenient way to try scuba. The PADI Discover Scuba Diving course is the world's most popular introduction to this fun and exciting sport. Your classroom and pool experience can be credited toward an Open Water certification. All you need are a mask, fins, and snorkel, and you are ready to go.

Open Water Diver(eLearn Option) (6 sessions)
Start the journey of a lifetime by earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification. Becoming a diver opens a door to a whole new world and changes you forever. Open yours and step through. PADI Open Water Diver Certification is just the beginning. As a certified diver, fabulous dive destinations, exciting people, unparalleled adventure and uncommon tranquility await you.

Skill sessions take place in the classroom. Pool dives will take place at the Evelyn Sadler Jones YMCA. Students perform open-water dives all day on the final Saturday at a local beach or via boat. Students need mask, fins, and snorkel. Included in the course fee is use of top-of-the-line scuba gear: regulator, pressure gauge, computer, wetsuit, tanks, weights, Open Water Crew Pak, Log Book and application fee for certification card. eLearn Option is available

Take the Helm...Sailing at Any Level (1 session)
Whether you are a new sailor or an "old salt", Take the Helm is for you! Become as involved as you wish with U.S. Coast Guard Master Captian Tim and Jan Solomon of Key Sailing, and sail away on "Key Breeze", a 41 foot yacht docked at E-18 of 2 Marina Plaza, Marina Jack. Segway into the Past (2 sessions) NEW
The early-to-mid 1920's was a very special time in Sarasota's history. It was a period of tremendous growth in population, culture, and the arts. Join us for a very special exploration of residential and commercial downtown Sarasota, and learn how Sarasota evolved to become a vibrant community and the 'premier' showcase for live theatre in the state. The lectures move along 'effortlessly' with everyone aboard a Segway Personal Transporter. After a brief riding lesson, view 'up close and personal' some of the most interesting and least known historical buildings and locations. A maximum of 6 participants per session allows for personal interaction with the instructor and prime viewing opportunities. Participants must be able to easily stand for up to one hour at a time without assistance. Maximum individual weight is 220 lbs. Snack and drink provided during a short break.
